I am considering trying out for cheerleading next year. I'm going into 10th grade, but most girls have already been cheering since middle school. In order to have a chance, what should I do to prepare for tryouts? I"m physically fit and flexible but haven't done jumps and flips since I was in gymnastics many years ago.

  1. the cheers duh

  2. If I were you I would start to take gymnastics again. Also work on your jumps like a toetouch, pike, front and side hurdler, and spread eagle. Also, work on your motion technique and make sure you have nice and tight motions. Good Luck.

  3. you should take classes at an all-star cheer gym. or if you don't have one near you go to a gymnastics gym and work on your tumbling and jumps. you can also work on your motions by yourself because these are veryy important.

if you know anyone already on the team you can ask them for advice and e-mailing the coach and asking for suggestions is also not a bad idea.

    good luck!

  4. Ask the coach what the requirements are. Work out, stretch and jump a few times a day. If you need tumbling do drills at home and join a class: http://aescougarcheer.com/Cheer101/tumbl...

  5. just do your jumps every day and work on your bow n' arrow, scorpian, arbesque, scale, etc.. if you want to become a flyer! good luck!!!
