What extracurricular activities are most beneficial for young girls?

I'm looking to get my three year old daughter involved in activities, however she is too young to have an opinion on what she would like to do. Eventually of course, it will be her own decision, but for now I have full control of what to get her involved in. So I'm wondering, what activities (other than preschool) is it best for children to start out with?

  1. I find that its best to put a 3 year old in something that has other children about the same age when i was younger my mom did as you would like to do and got me into a tumbling class. It is a very active class that teaches things like being flexible and as your daughter gets older they with teach her thing she can use as a cheerleader if you were to choose to get involved in cheerleading, like back flips and front rolls and handstands ect. you could also get your daughter involed in ballet, dance, they also have some sports like soccer that doesnt invole knowing how to do very much and it is also great exercise for her...if you have any other questions or would like more on all this feel free to e-mail me anytime i hope this helps you alot...  :-)

  2. I don't believe in organized gymnastics, dance, etc for children of this age. Most of the time it doesn't work out. Preschool and time at home should be enough. Things like going to the Library storytime is fun, going to the park, when they have art classes these are also fun, your city should offer fun classes for children this age, their are also free things in the community for children.

Art this age children can be overstimulated and need downtime and expecially if she is in Preschool she needs quiet time at home. Time to sit with you and read books to her, let her do art, play with her, take walks, etc.

  3. gymnastics, dance, and swim lessons.

  4. dancing. arts and crafts, finger painting, water painting,

  5. I would say taking a music class. You can even take the class with her and it would be a good bonding experience. There is alot of music class out there for little children. i work in a day care and alot of the little girls take music class with their mother.

  6. I think any acitivity you chose will be helpful.. think about activities that are the most broad.. music, art, movement, language. Many parks and recreation departments and bookstores have classes... sometimes they are called "storytime....."   think the more broad a class is the better because then you can see what it is your child is responding to.. the music part, the hands on craft, the movement part stories, etc. Good luck the more we expose our kids to the better we help their brains develop.

  7. most children enjoy doing crafts- your local recreation center (or other community center) could have an arts and crafts class- also you could have her get involved in a sport- for her age i would recommend dancing or swimming (taking mommy and me swimming lessons are a good way to bond and gain much needed swimming skills that could someday prevent a drowning) You could also soon start to get you child involved in music- piano is a good child instrument that build mind usage. But the best way to choose an activity for your child is to be aware of what is going on around her and always make sure your parental instincts tell you that what you are doing is right for you particular child.

  8. My little brother was in gymnastics and I would go to watch him at practice while others were also practicing. They seemed really young so I asked and the youngest one was about three years old. So if you wanted her to be in something like that it might work.

  9. THE YMCA HAS A LOT OF THING SHE COULD DO, SWIMMING LESSON,SOCCER, B-BALL, GYMNASTICS. CHECK OUT THE LOCAL YMCA. BUT I THINK SWIMMING LESSONS ARE REALLY GOOD.

  10. I would think some kind of physical activity such as dance for her age. Sports would be ok too if there is anything offered. Maybe an art class?

  11. We got our daughter into swimming at 2 and a half years old. She loves it.
