Question:

What eye-shadow colour would be best?

I have my debs coming up (like a prom) and my dress is two-toned; light midnight blue to dark midnight blue.

I, however, have dark brown/black hair and dark green eyes. I have found in the past that very light eye-shadows do not suit me.

I've been told that your eye-shadow should match your eyes and your dress but in my case they are two completely different colours! What colour(s) should I be looking for?

  1. purple

  2. ill only give u some pics that would be nice.

  3. I would say a bluey/greeny colour but not too light! otherwise you'd look like a drag queen. But this would go with your dress and eyes and also the green in it would compliment your hair. Just dont go too over the top with the eyeshadow as your dress will make you stand out anyway x

  4. I'd do a neutral colour for eyeshadow, like brown.  Take a darker brown up to the crease, then a lighter brown to the brow bone.  Highlight your brow and the inside of your eye with a shimmery vanilla, then add brown eyeliner and mascara.  Also wear some pale pink lipgloss. :]

  5. Dark purple/blue liner with a similar shade of eyeshadow in crease and a light brown shimmer in the corner and lid.

  6. A smokey grey or dark blue smoothed on in the shape of a greater than, less than symbol like this <  > (so the pointed sides are at the outer corners of your eyes. The bottom swipe should begin in a very thin line, close to your lashes, and get thicker as you get to your outer corner. The top lne should simply follow the crease of your eye but not go all the way to the inner corner- stop at the center, above your pupil; where it would be if you are looking straight ahead. When you are done with that, fill in the inside portion of your lid with a peachy pink color, then put a darker rosy color just above the crease on the outside half of your eye. Dust your brow bone with a little light highlighter, brush over it all with a clean brush to soften it up, and  finish the whole look with some eyeliner and mascara if you like. I know it sounds like alot of makeup, but pretty much, the only dark color you will be using is the smokey grey/blue color, the rest is just for contour and blending. This will intensify the color of your eyes while really setting off your dress! If you want to, you can put a little white liner on the inside rim of your lower lashes, this will set a foreground to the whites of your eyes, and really open them up. Here is a link to a Youtube video, though iI think this girl has a little bit of a heavy hand. If you stick to that "v" shape I described, It won't look so heavy. Also using the pinky peachy colors for the highlights and contours will look more natural. I am assuming you don't want to look like you put your makeup on with a spatula, and have to take it off with an ice cream scoop! LOL!

  7. don't matter

nobody will look at your eyes

    either way

  8. Ok well im no make-up finatic or anything, but why dont you try a nice dark colour like black, but not too dark and try to gradually blend in some dark blue at the upper part of the eye lid.. Just keep trying to mix and match, you never know what might look good.

    Goodluck :)

  9. If the even is at night, you might want to go a little bit more dramatic. Light colors are great when you combine them with dark color to accentuate your eye color and don't forget about the shape of your eye.  If your eye socket is not defined very well, you want to use dark colors to accentuate and give your eyes some shape.

Because your eyes are green and your dress is blue I would actually wear a blend of brown and light brown, or a blend of brown and black. Its really up to you, it's just the way you do it to create a smoky effect. You have to blend them in very well. Always begin with the lightest color first and of course the darkest it's just going to add a bit of drama. The reason why I would go with the brown is because it would accentuate the color of your eyes. You don't necessarily have to go with the color of your eyes or your dress.  Which I could show you a pic of how it should be done, it's kind of hard to explain in writing.  See a picture of J.Lo here with the look http://allwomenstalk.com/wp-content/uplo...  Hope this helps.

  10. black and blue

  11. I've green eyes too, purple is at the opposite end of the colour spectrum to green, so wear that to bring out your eye colour.  Try for a very dark purple, to match your eyes and highlight the dark blue of your dress.

    Enjoy your debs

  12. Golden browns, warm taupes, deep purples, soft peaches and soft violets.

    maybe charcoal

  13. use like a nice settle, metallic brown. or a dark blue. but id go with the brown because it would match ur eyes and doing blue would just be too much blue. the eye shadow just has to go well with the dress. it doesnt have to match it to the point. you have green eyes so look at purples too. just put the case up to ur dress and see if it goes good with the blue

  14. I like oasis color eyeshadow palette of hourglass cosmetic. it's exotic pastel color, reminded me of the trip to morocco.

  15. Go with neutral colors. Browns and beige tones. If you really want to make your eyes pop, try using a dark green eyeliner under your lash line instead of black or brown. Your eye make up does not have to match your dress. I love green eyes, you should accentuate them!

    Good luck!

  16. go for a sort of purply colour.purple (in the right shade) goes great with brown/green eyes

  17. I think a shimmery gold eyeshadow would look nice. Also maybe a series of earthtone shadows.

  18. Purple will show off your green eyes. Is a nice color at night and goes with the blue as well
