What fabric should i use to make this bag?

but not leather, what material is easy to sew with (by hand, not just by machine) yet strong?

  1. I think denim would look really good and it should have about the same substance as the leather so it would keep that same shape.

  3. Beautiful bag!!  I would use recycled old leather jacket from resale store, but you want something else.  

    Try using any quilted material, but best would be heavy upholstery fabric.  There are soooo many beautiful heavy fabrics out there and be sure to line so bag will hold its shape.

  4. I think it would look awesome in velvet. Also, there is a lightweight suede type that might work if you lined it with something to help keep it from stretching and distorting.
