  1. There are several main factors that affect the how "fast" or "slow" a table will play.  As previously mentioned, the cloth is probably the number one factor.  A brand new, high quality cloth like Simonis 860 or Brunswick Centennial will play very fast.  As cloth becomes worn, the balls tend to slow down.  Interestingly enough, when cloth becomes really worn and threadbare, it actually tends to speed things up again.  Humidity is a factor as well.  High humidity tends to slow things down.  Sometimes you'll notice that even if the air conditioning is on, things will speed up a little.  The quality and responsiveness of the cushions will determine how the balls react when contacting them.  The balls themselves also play a role.  If they are clean and polished, they will move faster.  M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee.

  2. there are 2 factors that affect the speed of the ball-

    1. the felt on the table whether its sleek and hasn't got lint on it the ball will travel faster. 2. the direction of the spin on the ball, whether the ball is struck from the top it will generate more forward momentum. but when struck underneath the ball it will spin back and slow down faster.
