  1. Fire. Longleaf is adapted to growing in low water conditions as well as being dependent on fire.


  2. 1) The natural seeding of the forest floor from pine seeds.

    2) the increase in acidity of the forest floor, due to the decomposition of the pine needles, inhibits the growth of deciduous seeds.
