What factors apart from acid rain could be killing trees?

  3. There are many things that could be killing trees:

    ~herbicides

    ~fungal pathogens (rusts, blights, etc.)

    ~parasitic plants (mistletoe, Spanish moss)

    ~bacterial pathogens

    ~insects

    ~viral pathogens introduced by insects

    ~animals (girdling, eating foliage, chewing on roots, etc.)

    ~humans damaging the tree

    ~growing in the wrong conditions (complete shade, wrong climate, wrong soil type, etc.)

    ~drought

  6. Acid rain? That went out in the 70's. But there are a lot diseases that could kill them. Google a tree Doctor.

  7. Tree huggers squeezing too tight?  Just kidding, another culprit is beetle kill and other diseases that prey on trees.
