  1. no no no. There's only one factor responsible for binocular vision. Binocular vision means vision with two eyes, the only factor that is responsible for it is that we have two eyes.

Why might animals have binocular vision? (this means, why do they have 2 eyes). There are 4 standard answers:

    1. always good to have a spare anything (ie. if one eye is damaged, other eye is fine).

    2. wider field of view

    3. Allows vision of dimmer objects through binocular summation

    4. Provides depth information through stereopsis.

  3. You need to have:

    Some visual acuity.

    Fusion.

    Muscle balance.

    Intact visual pathways.

    Intact brain.

  4. Conditions which effect the rod photoreceptors. The cones are localized at the very back of the retina and the rods are dispersed around the retina. When only the cones are working well you can only see objects that you are looking at directly. Light that comes in at angles are usually picked up by the rods, when they aren't functioning properly you can't see your peripherals.
