  1. biotic:

    - plants in both are equally resistant against drought

    -wildlife is often accustomed to living in the shade (in the desert they come out at night, rainforest is always shaded by canopy)

    - both tend to have highly specialized and adapted species for the extreme climates

    abiotic:

    - both have constant climate conditions (one of constant drought, the other of constant wetness)

    - both are examples of extreme environments

    - rain, when it happens in both, tends to be torrential
