  1. The main factor started in 1927 on a train ride back from New York City. There he lost his character Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and his animators. It was there that he created the iconic character, Mickey Mouse. He made the first talking cartoon, Steamboat Willie. He then marketed the mouse all over the United States and the world. He needed Mickey Mouse and the U.S. needed Walt and Mickey to help with the Great Depression.
