  1. Did you ;mean "Do unto others before they do unto you because what will come around you beat?

  2. Your thought process has more to do directly with the logic of justice than of faith.  Law school is more your thing.

  3. That's your business.Better kept to yourself.Or, discussed with others in a religious forum.

  4. You don't provide enough information.  Many faiths use some form of the Golden Rule and many advocate punitive revenge.  It's possible you are Christian, Buddhist or Jewish, but it's also possible you have no faith at all and are atheist.

  5. Why don't you tell us instead of us guessing?

Eye for an eye - in the Hebrew Scriptures and the Christian Old Testament (beyond the literal interp, this is actually about making the punishment fit the crime).

Do unto to others, etc. - concept in the Hebrew Scriptures/Christian Old Testament, a near quote from the Christian New Testament

What goes around...- sounds like karma, a Buddhist and Hindu concept.

    You're...New Age!

  6. You sound Christian.  Religion is not the answer.

  7. You'll probably get more out of beating  the snot out of someone, may I recommend Jerry Falwell for a start!

  8. Peter is right, you're paraphrasing the Golden Rule, or Ethic of Reciprocity, which has been adopted by a number of the world's religions. You can find it in Leviticus in the Old Testament, a religious work that is accepted by Christianity, Judaism and Islam. You can find similar sentiments in Buddhism, Confucianism, etc. And you can find it applied by people completely independent of a belief in gods.

Does that mean religion is the Answer? That's a very individual and personal question you'll have to answer for yourself. You may indeed find comfort in a certain religion, but if you find yourself agreeing with "Do unto others..." (which is a good thing!), you don't need to feel compelled to join a religion because of it. It's just a plain good way of treating your fellow man, irrespective of the gods you believe or don't believe in.

  9. have you been baptized?

  10. Religion is not The Answer, nor is it An Answer - religion is a method of finding the answer - whether you believe that The Answer exists within you or with nature or with God.

If you want structure, rules, and guided prayer, then perhaps religion is for you. If you believe in self-exploration, struggle, and searching - then perhaps a more isolated spirituality is for you. If you don't believe there is an answer, perhaps focusing on the material world and justice will give you a greater sense of satisfaction.

What you're describing are very common beliefs, but those are not definitive of any religion, spirituality, or atheism.

  11. This is what I heard that is meant by "an eye for an eye". I heard it means....if someone takes your eye...then you should take NO MORE than their eye. You shouldn't kill them in return...or break their arms and legs along with taking their eye.  I guess that means if someone raped you...you'd have to rape them back...and that doesn't seem right. I think it just means"Let the punishment fit the crime."

I have no idea what religion I am...so how could I tell what religion you are??!!!

    EDIT...John S.....Didn't Jerry Falwell die?????

EDIT...What religion believes this?"Do unto others and they do unto you....only do it first!!"As far as "What goes  around comes around"....that doesn't always hold true.Even Jesus...when asked why a certain man was "disabled"...Jesus said ... he wasn't "disabled" because of what his parents did...but for the Glory of God that God's power would be shown through healing him. (NOT AN EXACT QUOTE.Look it up for the exact words.)

  12. Perhaps. religion its self is the belief of nothing but instead making a routine of going to habit of going to worship any givin thing, but dont truly believe in it. your faith is in what they call KARMA

  13. "an eye 4 an eye, do unto others as they do unto you".....aren't you contradicting yourself?

  14. God is the answer...Religion sux..........

  15. you are no faith, your looking for a bone to pick with anybody. The phrase is, "Do Unto Others, as YOU would have them do unto you". Get it right. How bout, "Turn the Other Cheek"? How bout,  "Love Thy Neighbor"?And how bout, "You should love your wife and your family as much as you love yourself". If you had faith, you would not question with a bone to pick, but thats my opinion.

  16. This is not Faith. If you agree with doctrine and scripture you are religious. If you accept a "higher source" and Honor common interest, values, morals, comfort, support, guidance and a general sense of "well being" and you trust your connection to this source, you have found Faith.

Faith comes from within yourself, NOT from others nor from a BOOK.

I get the question and NO, religion in this manner is NOT the answer. But when you follow the direction of self chosen leaders you remove your self from your personal connection to the Divine ALL, placing your Faith in THEIR views.

I favor Faith in myself, as an intelligent person capable of deciding for myself how to be the best person I can be and treating others as I WISH to be treated, NOT how they treat me. Seek the Highest Degree of Divine Love in ALL situations.

  17. Bourbon you are an alcoholic.

  18. that is your thought process, not a religion.  Your just incorporating it into your sentence.  You know your faith by what you truly believe. I prefer to be a spiritualist, no religion tied to me.  Most religions, if not all, are tied to a cult practice.  Read the below wikipedia definition of cult.

In non-English European terms, the cognates of the English word "cult" are neutral, and refer mainly to divisions within a single faith, a case where English speakers might use the word "sect," as in "Roman Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy and Protestantism are sects (or denominations) within Christianity." In French or Spanish, culte or culto simply means "worship" or "religious attendance"; thus an association cultuelle is an association whose goal is to organize religious worship and practices.

  19. Your own warped faith.
