  1. The aardvark (/Orycteropus/) is the only living member of a family called Orycteropodidae, and the only living member of the order of Tubulidentata.  Other members are known from fossils stretching back to the Oligocene, but they're far from common.

    Aardvarks are pacifists.  This is made clear from the wise saying: "aardvark never killed anybody."
