  1. I like to think of a capacitor as a sort of electrical ''shock absorber'' similar to what a cars has on its wheels.

When an electrical appliance is turned on the surge can do damage to small electrical parts. the capacitor softens the surge.

A 1 Farad capacitor is about the size of a large refrigerator. So they are rated in fractions  like mu's. Thousandths of a farad m---milli-- is latin for thousand.

  2. ok its easy to figure out what size capacitor you need. 1 farad recommended for a 1000rms of power if you system is 1500rms you use a 2 farad cap. a capacitor is used to store current and it doesn't only store it also discharges at high rates unlike a battery. a cap. is best for bass amps when you need alot of power fast
