What fighting style would be the best for me?

I'm 5' 9", 166 pounds. I'm in okay shape, I run a mile in about 7:30 and I do curls and whatnot with 20 lbs.

I like watching MMA and fighting seems really interesting, but I don't know what style I should train with. I'd say I'd probably be a better striker than grappler, but it'd be cool to be able to use some submissions from time to time. Jui Jitsu? Judo? Muy Thai? Karate?

Any suggestions would be really heplful. Thanks!

  1. No traditional goyu karate. If you like MMA like me, stay away from the traditional arts such as kung fu, kenpo, ninjutsu, okinawan, all those are not real self defense. Grappling is cool and I would suggest BJJ. Judo is throwing and doesnt really have submissions so meh.. Muay Thai is great for standup with the knees and elbows kicks and punches. Karate is junk, don't take it. If you want standup go with muay thai not karate.

  2. well i would recommend that you do both muay Thai and bjj as they both complement each other and neither is good enough on its own. judging by your height and weight your a pretty large frame guy and you are pretty fit so muay Thai and Brazilian jui jitsu would suit you perfectly

  3. If you really want to strike then go with karate, but if you are looking for grappling moves then go with Jui Jitsu.

  4. mixed marital arts-Kick boxing you get to use your legs.

  5. id recommend karate or muay thai

  6. It depends on how old you are.

If your in the "prime" of you life, you might want Thai Jistsu.

  7. traditional goju ryu karate
