  1. Besides metaphor, maybe it's hyperbole.

    Probably she isn't "totally shattered," but badly shaken up.  Exaggerating for effect is hyperbole.


  2. This is metaphorical.  Clearly the "her" in the sentence can't shatter as glass would.  So, it is comparing (without the words "like" or "as" - metaphor)  how the separation affected her to something that would shatter.
