  1. There are *lots* of ways of attaching a "pendant" to a  necklace cord.

Which one y might use would depend on the material your pendant is made from, as well as its shape, and just how you'd want it to look.

The holes or tunnels created by some "connectors" would lie at the top of the cording with an orientation that didn't  require a *second* finding (a jump ring, for example) be connected to the first to change the orientation to the "right" direction.

One type of connector might be a "bail" (a specifi kind of decorative metal piece that clamps down over the top of a pendant, leaving a tunnel for the necklace/cording to go through--or bails could be made from other materials)... or a "top loop" of some kind which probably would be put into the pendant in some way (a shortened "eye pin" or an unside down U shape) or be glued to it... or there could be a hole all the way through the pendant so that the cording itself or something with a loop at top could be passed all the way through the pendant... or there could be a place for the necklace to go through created by "wire-wrapping" the pendant, leaving a loop at top... and more.

If you just want a metal bail of some type, you can usually find those in a craft or bead store or online.

If you want to check out some other ways to use connectors for hanging pendants, check out these pages at my site:

    http://glassattic.com/polymer/pendants_c...

(...click on the category called *Loops & Holes for Cording*)

    http://glassattic.com/polymer/wire.htm

    (...click on *Basic Wire Shapes*)

(some of the info on that first page will work mostly when making a pendant from polymer clay, but holes can also be drilled into certain other materials to do the same kinds of things)

P.S.  The types of connectors in the link given by LudkyLady are not for pendants... they're for when many small beads are strung onto cording and need a clasp or a way to end, etc.

  2. Depending on the size of the pendant, I think hobby lobby, wally world, or any craft type store might have what you need.

afterthought... after searching jewelry making, i realized it has really grown since I did it 10 years ago!  wow!  all the neat stuff!  look at this site I found and see if it helps.

You might have inspired me to go back to jewelry making!!

  3. The finding which attaches the pendant to a necklace is called the bail. Often, a simple jump link will suffice. Or you may have to make your own. I like to make a figure-8 shaped bail, as it is less likely to slip off than a jump link. If you are a bead weaver, you may make a beaded bail. Sometimes, the bail has to be attached with glue or solder.

  4. Clasp????
