I'm looking to take my girlfriend out to dinner on her birthday, and I want to take her somewhere really nice. That said, which restaurants in Minneapolis usually prefer a dressier visage? As in, a tuxedo for me and a nice dress for her. Thanks in advance.

  1. Solera on Hennepin is pretty cool - not tuxedo cool - but dress-up cool It's a tapas bar. Murray's is supposed to be a pretty nice steak house too.... Chino-Latino in Uptown is super fun - I mean...Chinese...Latin - how could it be bad!?

Check out the Twin Cities Originals website - lots of locally owned restaurants - it lists the price range...pretty good indication of dress-code

  2. I'm afraid you'll look like you are going to prom.  Minneapolis is a casual town.

Ruth Chris is just another chain steak house.  Try Manny's for something a little more special.  The most expensive places in town attract the dressiest diners.  Perhaps La Belle Vie.

  3. Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, the best steakhouse outside of the Bronx.
