  1. How big is the tank ?

  2. this dependes on a wide range of things.how big your tank is whats going in ther plants, sand ect.

if you havent setup a tropical tank be fore i would go for something the around 12 gallons just to get the nak of it. for a 12 galon tank i would recoment getting some "neon tetras, platys, mollys, guppies all tetra fish are great as well.

hope you have fun setting up your tropical tank :)

  3. This really depends on your setup, and what kind of money you're willing to invest. There are so many different types of great fish out there, but without knowing what your setup is like (tank size, how long established, type of filtration, heater, etc), it's not easy to give you a breakdown of what will work.

Someone mentioned guppies and neons - these are nice fish, and can do well in a smaller setup (15-20 gallons). If you have a big setup like a 100 gallon, you can get pretty creative with the fish that you stock.

And anywhere between the two are loads of possibilities.

Give us more info and we'll be happy to help.

  4. guppies and neon tetras are great and nice to waTcH...!!

  5. We can't much help without knowing the size of the tank and then you should decide the species that takes your eye the most and add tank mates that are compatible with that particular fish. You have to have something to build around.

Try this link for a bit of a guide http://badmanstropicalfish.com/fish_char...

  6. there are so many that it is difficult to advise ones that would..

but i would advise against putting any kinds of freshwater sharks (eg red tailed black shark), Japanese fighting fish or sunfish in a tank with any smaller fish or fish of an equally agressive nature (eg the same type).

As for what fish would be compatible together, that all depends on big your tank is.. find out how many gallons it is and go to your local shop (fish shop that is) and they should be able to advise some appropriate fish. And there are a fair amount of non agressive fish to choose from depending on the nature of the fish that you would like

    eg

    active,

    docile,

    etc

    hope this helps
