i live in chritchurch,dorset,uk, and i the quay/harbor there is a small fish does any one know what its called

  5. It sounds like a mullet.

  6. The fish is most likely a Coal fish or small Pollack. They are readily found round British harbours and rock's, we have loads of them round our way, the local children spend hours catching them with small hooks and a small piece of bread.

    We catch them then use them for baited flappers to catch big fish like Conger.

    They use the sheltered water as a safe refuge until they are big enough to fend for them selves amongst big predators out in the ocean. What they dont yet realise is it isnt that safe when you have so many anglers trying to catch you! Less of two evels though i suppose

  11. There's a good chance it's a smelt, cath them om little bits of worm on lite float tackle,keep them in the freezer for winter Pike fishing .
