We have a 20H aquarium. The decor is minimalist. It consists of a skull (great hiding place) and a large (plastic) plant that wraps from one bottom corner, up, and around the top. It currently has a female betta and 4 panda platys. What would be a good addition to our tank? Obviously, I'd like to keep it peaceful. I do like platys a lot. I'm interested in hearing thoughts on both schooling fish and more focal point fish and or invertebrates/amphibians.

Also, what are good live plants for a 20 gallon aquarium? I don't want ones that float. I'd like to be able to anchor them to the bottom if possible.

  1. I'd suggest a male betta for a splash of colour, or a small school of neon tetras.

  2. Don't get a bala shark, they grow way to big for 20 gal plus they are a schooling fish and you are supposed to have 5+ of them.

If you are going for a schooling fish there are all sorts of tetras which would be suitable.

I have got a 15 gal with a couple of gold rams as well as other fish, there is a tiny bit of aggression but mostly they are okay, I think they are very beautiful because they are a lovely gold color but if you shine a light on their scales sideways they have blue shiney bits all over them too.

  3. pygmy chain sword plant,dwarf cryp,banana plant

u can add a bala shark and 2 guppies they will be ok with beta`s also african dwarf frogs hope this helps u out and good luck
