  1. I have a hamster and two rats, and I personally think my rats are just the best. They are intelligent and fun. Hamsters are cute and everything but if they can they'll jump right out of your hands or off a 4 foot dresser. They're not very bright. Rats recognize their owners and can be trained to do a lot of cool tricks. They love to be held and played with and will sleep in your sweatshirt hood if they get the opportunity. If you do want to get a rat, it would be best to get two so they can keep each other company. If you get rats, you'll discover they are the best rodents you can have! :)

  2. Rats are more boyish, but guinea pigs rock!

  3. I am going to definitely say the worlds largest rodent the Capybara...

  4. Whatever rodent you want and think you can take care of, get that. I would research both and see which is more suitable. Rats are harder to look after than hamsters in my experience, harder to tame and more unpredictable.

Don't worry about what others think. Animals are animals and are not more suited to anybody.

  5. Thats kinda sexist. There's no such thing as a girly animal, except maybe a unicorn. Get a guinea pig

  6. Hamsters aren't really girly, but if you think they are then get a rat

  7. Well, I have fancy rats and I think that they are definetly better because they are smarter((really they are)).

  8. awesome fancy rat.

  9. There's nothing girly about hamsters, but I prefer rats. Don't get me wrong, I love my hamsters, but as far as having a very interactive pet, I'd go with a rat.

  10. i think hamsters are not girly or rats aren't girly either it's just a stereotype...

  11. Hamsters are not ''girly''.

Unless the plan is to get TWO rats, then I wouldn't get rats at all. It's unfair to keep them alone.

I'm female, not a fan of hamsters, and I own 4 rats. I'm pro-rat, but only if you do it right.

  12. My rather endowed Syrian takes offense at being called girly. ;)

I don't think any pets are really gender specific.  Go with what you want and what fits your life, and not what you think other people will think of you.
