I have a rebuilt chevy small block that that I have a problem with the flex plate seems like it is too small. I have ground down the teeth on it and replaced it 2 times.I'm going to try to get a high torque starter because the stock starter doesn't seem to engage properly . I just don't know what size flex plate 153 or 168 will be the right one.

  1. you're trying to one for a big block... no good.. order the right one for the year and be sure its a match with the factory dampener.. or get a new dampener too. the only different one for a small block is the one that goes on a 400 crank it counterwieghted externaly.. so ids the dampener.. big ol groove cut in it. cant miss it.
