What flied do you think is better for a woman to go in to?

fire fighter or police officer.which do think is the best choice for a woman to do. one with young kids.

They are both admirable, but I think police would be better because I think the average woman would have an advantage when dealing with members of the public because of what I have found to be a greater capacity for empathy in your gender.

It would depend on what the woman WANTS to do.

The problem with fire fighter is you have very long multi-day shifts, and so won't see the young kids for days at a time -- routinely.

That means, besides missing their growning up, the entire burden of taking care of them for days at a time is on someone else.

Both of them are dangerous, leaving significant the chance that they will grow up motherless.

And both require extensive training, where you'll be away from them for a long time.

But, if you're determined, which do you WANT to do most?

fire fighter, because a police officer has to deal with crazy people who will blow they're head off.

a fire ifghter only has to battle the fire.

I THINK POLICE OFFICER IS THE BEST FOR A WOMAN WHO HAS YOUNG KIDS.DESPITE THE JOB IS RISKY AND NO TIME O CARE FOR THE CHILDREN,BUT IS STILL MORE BETTER THAN FIRE FIGHTER JOB.

Im a police officer with a 4 year old and I love it you get looked after you get child care help and the risk is a lot less too.

Both are extremely competitive and risky, but if you love what you do it will be worth it. You should ask yourself what type of schedule you want (firefighters often work several days straight with the next few days off, called a 4-3; police can work several days a week for long or short shifts). You should also check into what type of benefits (health insurance, vacation) they offer for families because of your young kids.  Things like insurance can really make or break a job.

Ultimately you need to decide whether fire is your passion, or dealing with people is. Though they seem alike, police officers have to be real people persons where firefighters do not. I would ask women in these fields (and in the area you live) their opinion of the pro's and con's of each job and then decide. Either way, GOOD LUCK!

They are both tought jobs, first one should ask one self can I do the job and is the job to demanding for me. Then are you very good with stress. It takes a lot out of you when your life is on the line. Pray about it Ask God for strength.

why not Paramedic or EMS, that way she could be involved in both fields and not have the everpresent danger associated with them. Also having medical knowledge is good thing when those darn kids get mischievous.

I would say Police officer for the sole fact that being in that profession lasts longer and the physical demands on the body are less.
