i'm doing a cardboard boat project in my physics class, and we are subject to build a cardboard boat. we are allowed to do anything reasonable, except use styrofoam and bottles of air(plastic bottles) can you think of anything that floats welll and is not part of the unnexeptable?

any other ideas are also appreciated, such as designs and "the need for speed"

thank you:]

  1. ballons with heelium

  2. anything that weighs less than the water it displaces.

  3. Use cardboard, coat it with a contact glue spray and then place plastic wrap on top of the glue, that will make it waterproof and slippery for speed...

You can use the same glue for building a hull with a honeycomb design for strength.

Anyway, sounds like a fun class to be in!

    Good luck.

  4. well seeing as most cardboard tends absorb water rather quickly and sink....i would suggest using a good wood glue, and epoxy resin to hold together, seal, and water proof all the cardboard.
