I have A LOT of laminate flooring I bought a few years back to put into the house I currently live in. Well, we bought a different house so I was thinking I would use the laminate I already have in my room and maybe my daughters' bedrooms too. I know that "experts" say wall to wall carpet is best in the bedroom, but I am looking for personal opinions.

I've had hardwood and carpet and can't say that it matters either way to me. The hardwood never seemed cold to me.

Which do you prefer and why?

Please and thank you!

  1. I've had stone, hardwood and carpet in my bedrooms and prefer carpet.  I just like the plush, soft feel of it between my toes when I wake up in the morning.

  2. i prefer hardwood. carpets just collect alot more dirt and stuff, and they stain so easily. hardwood also looks better than carpet i think. im guessing your child will probly be spilling stuff and thats not going to be fun to try to get out of the carpet. i would go with hardwood.

  3. Well to be perfectly honest i like rug. It feels good on your feet and when u wake up in the morning hardwood is cold and rug is not. True, it is easier to clean up messes on hardwood than rug but i love my rug floors so I'm happy with that.

  4. Linoleum is great as well as cork.  Hardwood is beautiful and non dust catching - so allergies are not such a concern.

There are a lot of heath issues associated with carpets...

Check out the above site - there are lots of flooring pages on about everything you can imagine.  Plus the pages on asthma and allergies are eye-opening.  see  http://www.building-your-green-home.com/...

If you choose Bamboo or hardwood floors, you can also keep the toes cozy with a natural fiber rug.

    Hope this helps!

  5. hmm,, i prefer the hardwood!!.. it looks better and more elegant.. but put in the side or in the middle or beside the bed a cute fur maybe carpet rug it would look good and warm in the winter =)..

  6. ive only had carpet and i like it! why? because it seems more 'roomy' then hardwood seems like it would be a kitchen

  7. I'm changing my room, and I think I'm going to try laminate. One of our contractors said that carpet is better because of the positioning of a bedroom on top of the garage would be drafty. I think I would want laminate, just because I don't like vaccumming. Age matter too. Little kids spend a lot of their time on the floor so I guess carpet might be better for that reason. I know my brothers room has a TV so we sit on the floor and I do like carpet for that. Me, I think I'd just want laminate.

  8. I have hardwood and love them.  Mainly I hate vacuum cleaners so I have none in my house, but the hardwood has never felt really cold though I do wear slippers or house shoes mostly.

The one thing I don't like right now is that the bed scuffs the wood floors when it rolls, so I do need to find some of those caster-like things for the bottom instead of the roller.   Of course, a heavier bed probably wouldn't have that problem.
