  1. Flowers are very subjective.  Find out what flowers and colours she likes or go for something REALLY creative.

There is a fantastic florist that does great arrangements in Oxford Street, about 4 shops up from the Burdekin.

  2. So I don't know what flowers are native to Sydney, as I live in the states, but from what I can tell from the web it looks like we've got all the same stuff generally.

I worked as a florist for 4 years and whenever I had a male customer who asked for something "special" or "different" I'd suggest a nosegay. It is a specific type of arrangement most associated with wedding boquets, which seems on point, but they are smaller, cute hand held, with the stems wrapped in ribbon when done right. They are also common in europe so I am told. (picture below through link)

My favorite was always blue hydrangea with red roses inserted, but I think, if you could find it, garden roses would be the best(pictured in the 2nd link, different from commercially grown roses in that they have an amazing smell, deep colors, and really large heads), in my mind, but I am very traditional, so it would really depend on the girl, I am more old fashion like, if your lady is more modern think maybe lillies or orchids...

They are best done when only 1-3 varieties of flowers are used in my opinion. Gardenias that had been wired would also be nice, Stephenotis is also gorgeous, for the states has to be shipped from tropical climats and it can be fixed to have a little fake pearl in the center of each one, that was always sweet looking in my opinion.

But anyhoo they are sweet and generally I had good customer reviews from the women they gave them to.

But yeah I also agree with commment number one in the sense that you probably want to make a big hoopla about it in general with the romance and all..

But I kinda assumed this was just part of your idea, so I wasn't gonna throw more in about it than that.

    Good luck and Congratulations

  3. pearsons are pretty good - they're all over sydney

  4. dont use flowers, be original, be romantic.

My now husband took me on a picnic over looking the blue mountains when he proposed to me, & just on sunset he popped the question and gave me the ring.

Where did you first meet? Do you have a special place? ask yourself those questions, then go for it.

Dont forget flowers die but making the proposal special will be a memory for ever.
