A predator is a secondary consumer or a consumer farther up the food chain .. tertiary consumer (3rd), quaternary consumer (4th), etc.

Producers are the plants or other autotrophs.

Primary consumers eat the producers (cow, squirrel, rabbit).

Secondary consumers eat the primary consumers.
