    If they are non-vegetarian they may eat meat of some small wild animals such as wild rats scorpions etc.

    But if vegetarian they may only pray to god for some fruit trees

  3. Nowadays, people in hot deserts eat pretty much the same things that people eat elsewhere. They just import it. Do you think that you'd have to change your diet if you moved to L.A. or Tucson?

    Actually, the main problem in being stranded in a desert is water, rather than food. If you have a sheet of plastic and a container, you can often rig a solar still to keep yourself hydrated. In the Western Hemisphere you can get both food and water from cactus. Some cacti have been introduced in the Eastern Hemisphere as well. I had my first prickly pear in Yemen. Not that you need the protein, but you can get a bit of meat from catching lizards. If there is water anywhere near, you may also find date palms.

  6. In the hot deserts, inhabitants mostly eat grains. They come in different forms like rice, or in powder form (looks like baby formula). This powder form can be cooked and made into semi-solid form and eaten with various things such as a soup or meat. The majority of food eaten in the hot desert is white grains.

  8. I think the residents in deserts do eat like the normal people in many places in this world. The good treat is caused by free trade between desert people and the agricultural based countries. For instance, the desert people produced good carpets and trade with China for rice and meat. I enjoyed meal one time in probably "Burger King" in Desert Hot Spring, southern California. It's great and affordable in early 90s. I think cultivation can be done in many desert countries by means of pumping ground water and man-made reservoir for irrigating the crops and vegetables. Dates, water melons, wheat, and many kinds of vegetables can grow in the deserts.

    Sheeps can survive in the the desert and, certainly the camels. You can see residents of Saudi Arabia eat mutton two to three times a week, beef, too. You will be amazed for seeing so many different kinds of fruit juices displaying in shops in Saudi Arabia. They can compare with the liquid stores varieties of juices and wine.
