  1. They eat american tourists

  2. Puce is right, and the food served in Versailles is very much the same as is served all over France. Ingredients are the same as in many other countries, only the recipes may vary and some regions have their own specialities. Versailles is on the outskirts of Paris and like in all capitals, you will find food of every description. There are many standard dishes made with ordinary ingredients such as meat, poultry, fish, shelfish, vegetables, which also exist in other countries. I was in New York and Boston just two weeks ago and, in American restaurants that serve classic food rather than just burgers and fries, I ate very much the same foods that I would eat in France or in Paris.

It is a myth to think that frogs legs or snails are everyday dishes. I am French and I have only eaten frogs legs once in my life, and they taste like chicken wings. It is also a myth to think that the French live on a diet of French fries, and they certainly do not eat them with mayonnaise. This is a Belgian custom, not a French one.

If you are going to Versailles and are worried about the food you will get , there really is nothing to worry about. If you have posted your question because you are doing a school project then look at typical French dishes and you will not go wrong.

Here is a representative website that will help you, but if you google "French gastronomy" you will find all sorts of interesting things for yourself.

Good luck, and if you are going to Versailles, have a wonderful time! The palace and its grounds are awesome.

(PS. Harcourt verte is not French )

  3. Not French Fries and Ranch Dressing

  4. they eat mussels, foie de gras, frog legs, lamb, beouf borginone,  alot of bread, salads with goat cheese, cheese, poulet - chicken, poission - fish, prawns - shrimp, harcourt verte - green beans, french fries (duh!) but with mayo... pastries, jambon and fromage on baguette (ham and cheese sandwich), yogurts, fruits, wine.

    Hope that helps!

  5. french.  is this a trick question.

  6. Well if you know what French people eat in (for example) Paris, it's exactly the same in Versailles. I don't think that they really have specialities. It can be a bit different when you go to other regions (like Burgundy, Provence).
