  1. Well Africa is a big continent, okra is indeed African (I've heard that Gumbo is the Bantu word for okra don't quote me on this) Ethiopian Cuisine is food you are most likely to find if you are looking for African (not African American) restaurants in major cities around the US. It reminded me of northern Indian food with less intense spices, everyone's orders is served on a big platter of a very large foamy thin piece of soft bread, the same type of bread serves as utensils and is use to pick up the food with ones hands. worth trying http://blogs.menupages.com/sanfrancisco/...

  2. There is a difference.  Black eyed Peas and such are more southern but may have their roots in Africa.  There is quite a lot of African cuisine that has made it's way into American Culture.  Wikipedia has a great link.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuisine_of_...

  3. At the risk of looking dumb and illiterate i think theres this stuff called coos-coos or somthing not sure how to spell it. But its delichious, and im positive its African, no matter how ofter its eaten in south Asian countrys.

  4. You need to start by understanding that Africa is a continent, not a country. There are different foods, that go according to different countries and regions. Fufu, for instance is a staple food in Central and West Africa. In Nigeria and other parts of West Africa, food is often cooked in palm oil or peanut oil. Garri, is a sauce, made from cassava usually accompanied by many dishes in West Africa as well. Okrah, comes from the Congo and Angola, and is used in soups and as a thickening agent. Ethiopian cuisine is different from West African cuisine. North African cuisine is probably similar to Middle Eastern cuisine. Couscous, hummus, etc is eaten in Morrocco.

  5. Okra is 100% African..
