  1. Generally on international trans-oceanic flights airlines will serve one or two complimentary meals. Recently airlines have been cutting back on free liquor though, so be prepared to pay a nominal charge for your cocktail.

If you will be making a domestic connection you should expect a variety of BOB (buy-on-board) meals which range in price 5-10 dollars.

Meals--and liquor--are generally complimentary when travelling in a premium cabin like First or Business class, so you might consider upgrading if you would like to enjoy a somewhat better dining experience onboard.

I would suggest visiting your airline's website for detailed information about their dining options.

Of course the best advice is to be prepared, and pack a snack such as a meal-replacement bar in case the food served onboard is not to your liking.

I hope you enjoy your flight!

    Cheers.

  2. Yes.

It depends on where you're going and who is flying you there. If you're going to a particular foreign country you might be served some traditional food of their country. Or you might just get a sandwich or some chicken.

For example, when I was going to Japan (on a Japanese airline) they served us something closer to Japanese food.

Usually, though, all food resembles something from a cheap TV dinner.

  3. All major airlines offer free food and drink on their flights..PROVIDED they are full-service carriers and not budget carriers. Airlines such as Swiss also have food on board but passengers are required to pay for these. The type of meal will usually depend upon the duration of your flight and its time.

You can get a good idea of what to expect on board an airline from http://www.airlinemeals.net

Search according to the airline you are traveling on.

  4. Yes.  On international flights they usually serve you beverages, dinner and breakfast (if overnight flight ). In other words they feed you at regular meal times.  They do a very good job even if its not the same as your home cooking!

  5. yeah, they do.

I think most of them would serve food that is similar to where the "host country" (so an airline like Japan airline might serve japanese food because the company started in Japan...) They probably would have an alternative choice if you dont want to go with their feature food.

  6. Almost (I think ALL) US domestic carriers have stopped meal service in the main cabin for domestic destinations.  However, international flights still offer food at meal times, like the others said... the food it pretty good and just enough to fill you up.

It all depends where you are going... and usually offer two choices... but if you have a dietary restriction CALL AHEAD!! and tell them.. the airlines actually do make specials means JUST FOR YOU.. and write down who you spoke with and when in case you dont get what you asked for...

But plan ahead... take healthy snacks to keep those hunger pains away...

  7. My flights have been about 12 hours and they bring food quite a lot.  It depends on the time of day but a night flight, you will get dinner, a snack, and breakfast.  Dinners are usually veg. or some other meat choice served with a salad, bread, cheese, and dessert.  Breakfast is varied alot from what I have seen depending on the airline you are flying on.  If you are flying on an airline from a different country the food will somewhat match what it is their culture to eat.  I bet if you look on the airlines website it will tell you their menu for flight too.
