What food should i serve at my husband's birthday party?

its just going to be a little cookout but i want to have a finger food buffet. something simple but classy, any ideas?

  1. Take a lb of cream cheese and squeez the juice of one lemon into it and beat it with your mixer until fluffy.

    Take baby bay shrimp and add lemon juice, tiny dice of celery and dill. Put in fridge.

    Get a bagette and slice and toast.

    Spread the cream cheese mouse on a platter with thin lemon sliced round around the edge. Put the shrimp mixutre in a pretty bowl with crushed ice underneath and add a pretty spoon.

    Make one or two and leave them on the plate so guests will know what to do. Spread some of the cream cheese on the bagette and top with the baby shrimp.

    Yummy, easy, classy


  2. Mini-Quiches, Oven BBQ Ribs, Garlic Chicken Bites, Quesadillas, Mini Smokie Dogs (like mini corn dogs), Mini Cupcakes, Brownies.

    Don't forget to have vegetables and fresh fruit for those who are watching their waistlines. =)

    Cut some raw veggies and make a nice dip (or just open up a jar of ranch dressing)

    Cold meats tray/cheese tray . Make sure you offer a nice variety of breads and crackers.

    Make sure you include a couple of more unusual items like prosciutto/ gouda cheese or fontina (delicious with cold meats!!) an Italian salami etc.

    1.  Grilled chicken satays with dipping sauce

    2.  Grilled ribeye kabobs (layer with onion, zuchinni, mushrooms.  Season before grilling and baste with a spicy sauce)

    3.  Sliced grilled flank steak, marinated with lime and chili

    4.  Baby red potatos, steamed and seasoned with kosher salt, fresh ground pepper, topped with a dollop of sour cream and chopped chives.

    5.  Colossal Prawns wrapped in bacon and grilled

    6.  Grilled asparagas wrapped in bacon or serrano ham

    7.  Grilled red and yellow bell peppers, portabello mushrooms, and red onion (baste with Italian dressing)

    8.  Cheese platter:  Spanish Manchega, Brie, Irish Cheddar, Dill havarti, Cambozola with artisan crackers and baguette slices.  Garnish with crisp globe grapes and sliced melon.

    9.  Bruschetta with artichoke tapenade

    10.  Teriyaki chicken wings

    11.  Shrimp salad in endive leaves

    12.  Asian slaw with jicama and pineapple

    13.  Pasta salad with fire roasted peppers and sundried tomatos

    14.  Corn on the cob with kosher salt, chili and lime butter

    15.  Hot artichoke and crab dip with blue corn tortilla chips

    16.  Spinach salad with crumbled bacon, feta cheese, mandarin oranges and candied walnuts with a french dressing.
