  1. The food in Mexico is just fine! When you order, simply let them know that you cannot eat spicy food and they will lay off the spices. The best thing to eat in Mexico is fish! Its delicious! I do agree - lay off red meat.

I went to Mexico last year to Xcaret park, it was very beautiful - by Cozumel and Playa Del Carmen.

Anyway, about the Mexican water - this is why you shouldn't drink it :

It is not dirty water or polluted in any way - it is actually very clean, fresh water. What it is full of though, is calcium and other nutrients that overwhelm our stomachs thus, giving us stomach aches. This is the reason why the Maya were so sturdy physically and is also why flowers grow far larger in Mexico. They have bottled water there so, dont worry much about it.

Well, enjoy your visit and learn a little Spanish to get by.

  2. Whatever you do stay away from the Lobster. Nasty!

  3. The food is  excellent.  The Mexicans do not douse everything with hot sauce like many people believe.  They use fresh herbs in the restaurants.  The fish is excellent and very fresh in the resort areas. I'd stay away from the beef, though.  Breakfast are really a treat, too.  Enjoy your stay... you will be treated well.

  4. Am mexican, I can tell you that water is not bad, but is saftier to buy bottles of water.

Beef is not so good but you can eat chicken and fish and many other things there. You will find fresh fruit and great variety of vegetables.

  5. My stomach either, and I've been eating Mexican food for 25 years. Just ask for no caliente salsa. Bottled water is fine, we all drink it. I boil vegetables in local well water with no problem. Just be careful with drinking alcohol and eatiing street food. Bien viaje

  6. I wouln't worry about spicyness as much as tainted water.  The resorts are pretty safe, and they provide all kinds of non-spicy food for the comfort of their foreign guests.  If you have a meal in a restaurant outside of the resort, do not drink the water unless it is served to you bottled.  Ice cubes in drinks are often made with local tap water - do not drink drinks with ice cubes in them.  When we visited Mexico our travel agent advised us to drink beer in restaurants.  (Seriously.)
