  1. We would probably be able to help more if you gave more information. What is it that she's having problems with? Is the baby latching correctly? Does she think she has low supply? If she thinks she has low supply, what is making her think this? Have you talked with an IBCLC? Or someone from LLL?

Otherwise, oatmeal promotes lactation. And there are some teas and herbs that do. And there are things that her doctor can write a prescription for that can increase supply.

  2. Mothers Milk Tea (3-5 cups a day) you can find it at any health store (GNC).

Fenugreek (3 pills, 3x a day along with tons of water....can also be found at GNC

    Oatmeal (not the instant)

    Tons and tons of water

Tons and tons of nipple stimulation....about every hour she needs to alternate between nursing and pumping.

I would go with the mothers milk tea and fenugreek route first...if she has almost no supply she should do both at the same time. If she just has a poor supply, either one will help out.

  3. Go to a local health food store or gnc and pick up a bottle of Fenugreek. Take two or three capsules three times a day and drink lots of water. Also, pump or breast feed as often as possible. Good luck!

  4. I recently returned to work and like most working mothers there's a significant reduction of milk when I pumped. I asked my DR to prescribe Reglan, a  medication used for acid reflux which has a side effect of milk production. A few days on that and I went from 5 oz of milk per session to 12 oz. That's over doubled!  The Reglan makes me very tired though and dizzy but I've set a goal to breast feed until my 5 month old is 1 so I'm not letting that stop me!

  5. There are a lot of things you can do.  Mother's Milk Tea is a good one I've heard.  Also, you can take Fenugreek (capsules).  That's what I use.  Also, I've found that eating things like oatmeal cookies or Oatmeal bars have helped quite a bit.  A friend suggested the oatmeal and said that any form of it should work.  It has so far.  I love oatmeal/raisin cookies and bars (Quaker Oats has a really good o/r bar).

Above all else, keep up the calories (like in pregnancy) and LOTS of water.  Can't emphasize the water enough.

    God bless,

    Amanda

  6. Try a tea called Mothers Milk and drink plenty of water.
