What foods put iron in your diet?

I know I lack this in my diet... What can I eat that will contain high levels of iron....

  1. Red meat, liver and all green vegetables although all vegetables make a contribution.


  2. The best things are dark red meets such as beef. But if you are a vegetarian rich green veggies such as broccoli are also good.

    seafood, such as oysters, clams, tuna, salmon, and shrimp, etc.

    iron fortified whole grains, including cereals, breads, rice, and pasta

    greens, including collard greens, kale, mustard greens, spinach, and turnip greens

    tofu

    vegetables, including broccoli, swiss chard, asparagus, parsley, watercress, brussel sprouts

    chicken and turkey

    blackstrap molasses

    nuts

    egg yolks

    dried fruits, such as raisins, prunes, dates and apricots

  10. Spinach isn't as full of it as people think. But green vegetables and red meat are among the best. Try adding a little vitamin C rich foods too, like oranges and some green vegetables, because you need Vitamin C to absorb iron.

  11. well red meats are good but the doctor put me on iron pills before to thicken my blood seemed to do the trick x*x

  12. avoid spinach as although it has lots of iron it also contains oxalic acid which leaches iron out of the body kale is tops dark chocolate and beef liver..

  13. dark leafy green vegetables have the highest amounts of nutrients with the lowest amounts of calories.  the darker the leaf the more nutrients it provides.

  14. lots of good advice but I hate the taste & smell of stuff like spinacjh & lentils.

    try vitamin or mineral supplements, easy to take, controlled dose, no cooking involved

    I had believed that Guiness contained iron but it does not have enpough to count as a food
