I am looking for foods that begin with the letter "Y" to send to my daughter's preschool class for snacks, so yams and yellowfin tuna just don't quite measure up. Thanks for your help!

  1. yolk or fried yolk?

  2. With the yams you can make french fried. coat with oil bake at 350 for 30 min.

  3. Yummy Yogosicles

Have each child measure the following ingredients into a small bowl.

•1/4 C. Yogurt (vanilla, banana or plain)

•1 Tsp. Frozen Orange Juice Concentrate (thawed)

    •1 Tsp. Honey

Mix well and pour the mixture into a small paper or plastic cup and freeze.

When the mixture is solid enough to hold up a popsicle stick, put one in and refreeze

    until firm.

  4. I know you said besides yogurt, but how about yogurt covered raisins? My daughter loves them.

  5. Yams!

  6. Yellow Squash?

I now you said no yoghurt, but what about:

Yoghurt Pops (frozen yoghurt on a stick) They do these at the preschool where I volunteer and the kids love them!

  7. Ohhh that's a tough one.

Yellow cake is the best I can think of.

  8. YoGo's. Kids Love it. It's in the cereal aisle. or how about York Peppermint patties. Something different.

  9. Yams - you can get sweet potato chips at a Natural food store that taste yummy

Yellow apples - like Golden Gelicious

Yellow squash - you can make spaghtetti out of it

Yucca?  Many yuccas also bear edible parts, including fruits, seeds, flowers, flowering stems, and more rarely roots, but use of these is sufficiently limited that references to yucca as food more often than not stem from confusion with the similarly spelled but botanically unrelated yuca.

Yeast?  or something made with yeast, probably too hard for a preschooler to get.

    How about yogurt covered raisins?

  10. What about sliced yellow peppers?  They're sweet and my kids like them.

  11. Yellow bananas to dip in yogurt or melted white chocolate dyed yellow. Yellow icing, on yellow cookies, with yellow sprinkles.  Yellow cupcakes, with light yellow icing and with bright yellow suns painted on them. (Okay tired of typing yellow).  You could arrange small yellow cupcakes to look like a sun, with, of course, yellow icing, served on a yellow plate.

Hope that helps.  That will be simple and it will help them remember their color and their letter.
