Went to the Humboldt Redwood Forest last summer.  Oh, it was beautiful.  The sun didn't make it to the forest floor because of all the trees, so there were ferns all over the ground.  It was humbling to say the least.  Plus, NO bugs!  I don't know how, but there wasn't a single bug I could see anywhere.  There was a slight mist in the area when we arrived in the morning that dissipated as the day wore on and it wasn't too hot because of all the shade.  My feeling???  Small and humble.

I've been to lots of forests, in the U.S. and abroad. The one that moved me the most was a redwood forest in California. Between the filtered light and the trees arching high overhead, it was like being in a cathedral -- with snakes and salamanders and other wonderful things to keep me company.
