What format of music does itunes use??

It's MP4, which is way better than MP3, based on sound quality for file size. It's not WAV or AIF full quality, but who wants a 50MB song on their HD?

By default, iTunes uses a format called AAC (Advanced Audio Compression, http://www.apple.com/quicktime/technolog...  However, any version of iTunes will play mp3s.
