My mother had an accident in Ireland and my brother is going over to see her. She is running low on her medicine and my brother wants to bring her some (less than 20 tablets). What kind of approval, documentation does he need?

  1. Hey there,

Sorry to hear about your mothers accident.  I hope she makes a full recovery.

I think what you need is the doctor/healthcare professionals pre-scription for the medicine and the medicine needs to be clearly labeled for that person.

A letter from the doctor/healthcare professional explaining what you are doing and why would be helpful.

It will depend on what medication you are talking about.

Check with your travel agent or state department who will be able to advise.

Please be aware that some drugs have different categories in different countries and that many over the counter drugs could be restricted also.

    Good Luck !
