Question:

What formula is truly closest to breastmilk?

I'm exclusively breastfeeding and just put my baby back in daycare. Although I take expressed milk daily, I would like to approve a formula for them to give my son in case I don't happen to bring enough. (They provide formula for the babies at no extra cost) They will only give it to him if I don't bring enough, but I think it would be a good idea just for back up purposes. I was thinking Enfamil Lipil, but not sure.

  1. With all the babies I have taken care of over the years, I have found that Enfamil is a popular formula among parents

  2. I'd say go with a Gold version of any brand.

However, I've just restablished breastfeeding after bottle feeding for 2 weeks which was very difficult and time consuming so I want to save you the heartache I have just experienced and just want to say pump pump pump and backup just incase you change your mind.

  3. well, none is that much closer than any other, except that the formulas with dha/ara are better than those without, as they use the best approximation of the dha/ara that is in breastmilk. most formulas do contain those now. my pediatrician, whom i totally trust, recommends enfamil lipil. ruby had to have very special formula (neocate) and then eventually soy (enfamil prosobee).

  4. Good Start

    Similac Go + Grow

  5. None is all that much closer than the others, but check the article below for a good analysis about what is different in different formulas.
