  1. goodard - pens  fits best because they need a fighter who players will actually drop the gloves for and not be completly terrified like fighting laraque.

malone and tampa bay will have the worst fit. malone is a garbage goal scorer who only was so good with the pens because of malkin and sykora.

  2. Best I think over the long term will be Campbell in Chicago. Imagine how potent the power play will be once he clicks with Kane and Toews. I think he is one of the best younger two way defensemen in the game and will help speed up the Hawks development.

Short term is the Hossa deal. He fits the Wings system (I dont buy the chemistry issue, he plays the same two way puck possession game the Wings prefer). Imagine how potent the power play will be now with Hossa,Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Holmstrom, Cleary, Franzen on the top 2 lines. He isnt going to suddenly suck just because his rental deal in Pittsburgh didnt work out, he was a top liner in Ottawa and Atlanta plus was the Pens best player through most of the Cup finals. Expect much the same with the Wings.

As for worst I am not sold on the Rolston signing with the Devils. He can play the defense first style but scoring is what he does now and they gave a 35 year old guy a 4 year deal at sizeable dollars.

I also wonder about Malone and the burden of that contract. He played a great finals and should add some grit for the Bolts but he might be expected to do more than he can given the size of the deal and you can be sure if he doesnt get off to a great start some fans will blame him for the Boyle debacle. Too many big contracts and losing one of the most popular players (he will waive and get dealt eventually) could effect Malone. Great kid....tough position to be stuck in.

And finally I am not sold on Huet. First of all the Habs deemed him not the better playoff option and history suggests free agent goalies far more often struggle than have big seasons after inking the new deal (Hawks fans know this...can you say 'Bulin?, although it is tough to blame him, they had some sorry teams in front of him).

  3. Best - I would like to say 666, we needed a pretty solid RWer, and we got him.....

Worst - I don't know how Hossa is going to fit in with Detroit's line up.....I'm not saying it's a bad deal, it's amazing, but I don't know how the chemistry will work out.

Just my Penguin-centered opinion lol. Campbell was a good deal.

  4. Best- Montreal with laraque needed a physical presence, also Huet and Cambell to Chicago, shows chicago still wanna be a big franchise and will help make them legit contender with cambell teows, kane, keith, and others

Worst- Blake to San Jose mans past his prime and wont help them in playoff push

  5. Best- Huet. The Blackhawks desperately needed better goaltending and they got one of the best.

Worst- Well, most look great so far. Sorta hard to tell right now.

  6. Best - Campbell, Hossa or Ruutu

    Worst - Huet or Naslund

  7. I think Huet and Campbell are gonna fit in well with Chicago and really make an impact with them.  I also think that Hossa could fit in very well, after all being a skill player on a skilled team with other skill players can be very rewarding (see Red Wings in 2002).

I don't see Theodore doing anything even remotely decent in Washington.  He'll probably have a couple good games but that's probably it.

  8. Christobel Huet fits best with the Blackhawks and fills their need for a number one goalie.  They'll certainly be in contention for a playoff spot come next spring.

Naslund would probably fit the worst right now, as it seems as though the Rangers are replacing an aging Jagr with an aging Naslund.  I haven't really seen a bad move made so far where there would be friction between a player and the rest of the locker room (Emery is still out there).

  9. Best- The Devils....Rolston and Holik are ex- Devils...how much better could you fit?

    Worst-Nasland becoming a Ranger...
