What free software can i download for my Windows XP laptop to rip films from original DVDS to my hard drive?

I am moving abroad for 5 months and have a weight limit on the plane so cant carry all of my individual DVDS. All of my DVDS are originals , not copies. Thanks

It can rip Mpeg streams, Raw data etc.., easy to use and and a professional software.

What you need is a DVD decrypter. This will rip the DVD onto your hard drive. It will still be in DVD format, which you can play with some tools, like Windows Media Player if you have a DVD codec (which you probably do).

SmartRipper is a free DVD decrypter. It's very easy to use, but has few features. It gets the job done though. You may have to search around to find a site that still has it available for download, as there has been some legal action going on. (Hence the multiple links below.)
