  1. Here are some of the foods that are good for your birds:

Greens: Kale, Bok choy, spinach, chard mustard greens radish, carrot tops, beet tops, dandelion greens (make sure they haven't been sprayed or collected near a roadway) and just about any other leafy green veggie.

Veggies: Carrots, peas, zucchini, corn, squash, radishes, bell pepper, broccoli, green beans, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, sweet potatoes, chili peppers.

Grains: Steamed rice (white, brown, wild) cooked pasta, whole wheat and multi-grain bread, popcorn (no butter), bran muffins, polenta, grits, cous cous, sprouted seeds and grains (quinoa, amaranth, millet, teff, kamut, spelt), oatmeal, all natural cereal.

Proteins: Raw sunflower seed (small amounts), chicken, eggs, rish, small amounts of hard cheese such as Jack and cheddar, tofu, cooked beans (lentil, kidney, black, garbonzo, navy, white).

Fruit: Apples (seeds removed), peaches, bananas, melons, mango, pomegranate, oranges, papaya, strawberries, plums, pears, berries, nectarines, cherries. (Please remove all pits from fruit.)

Please don't feed your birds salty foods, processed sugar, avocado, rhubarb, alcohol, greasy foods, caffeine, tomato leaves & stems, eggplant leaves, dried beans (always cook or fully sprout first), chocolate, apple seeds, fruit pits, tobacco. Feed onions or garlic in very small amounts only.

  2. frozen broccoli is ok but its better iif its fresh. give them persley.

u can cook carrots and chop it in really tiny peaces.

give lettuce only as a treat because it has no vitamins in it,only water.

spinach is acidic even to people if it sits 4 2 long

Good luck to u and your parakeet and im glad u asking this question means u care

wish other people would care and not to feed their parrots with seed only diet

    Good luck,

    Gigi

  3. It's great that she eats fresh food! It's a good way for her to get some vitamins. You can give her any sort of vegetable such as cucumber, tomato, lettuce or cabbage leaves, corn on the cob, broccoli, shredded carrot. Just make sure that you cut the vegetables somewhat, not necessarily in small pieces because she can nibble at what she will want from it. Fruits are also great for parakeets: you can give bananas, apples, peaches, melons, berries, etc.

Some parakeets like protein, so you can give some cottage cheese (plain, not flavored), or hard boiled egg cut in small pieces.

I wish my parakeet would eat fresh foods! Good luck!

  4. Little chopped pieces of fruit like apple. Small pieces, you dont want ur bird to choke. And feed lettuce.

  5. Small pieces of apple,

    Fresh and cleaned lettuce

    Fresh cucumber

    Strawberries,

    Small amounts of oranges

    Carrots (Chopped or Grated)

    Alfalfa Sprouts

    Definitely celery

    Millet

    Green Beans

    Celery Leaves

And any veggies/fruits except for: Potato, Onions, Avocado, or anything harmful to your parakeet.
