What fruit is this?

We live in central Texas and we've found a weird fruit in our front yard. It looks like a small apple, but it's always green and it's fuzzy, but the fuzz comes off after awhile, but not completely. The tree's about 10 feet tall, but small, and we never see any flowers, the fruit just appears. The inside of the fruit also looks like an apple, and it even smells kinda like an apple, but we're just not sure. It's also about the size of a plum. Anyone know what it could be?

  1. monkey like it!

  2. It sounds to me like a Pond Apple, the only thing is, I would have thought Texas to be too arrid for Pond Apple. Check the leaves and fruit in this photo. It's possible but you'll have to decide.
