If you didnt know the ratio i would use a 2 stroke mix called opti 2     its formulated to work with any ratio up to 50 to 1 without harming your engine.they have one gallon mixture packets to add to every gallon reguardless of ratio.

Generally from what I have seen 2 stroke engines use an oil + gas mixture.

Find the best quality Mercury oil for fuel and I believe it will tell you to follow a 50:1 mix.  Based on the size of your fuel tank you may be able to buy a container of the Mercury oil that will let you just pour the container in the fuel tank.  If you live in an area where they have Ethanol in the gas, you may want to consider a water separating fuel filter as if you get water in the power head of the motor it will cause a lot of damage.

The proper fuel/oil ratio is 50:1.  Be sure to use a quality TCW-3 oil.  I recommend Mercury or Quicksilver (same thing) premium 2 stroke oil.  Or you could use Johnson/Evinrude XD50 oil.  Both are great 2 stroke outboard oils.

You might ask why Johnson/Evinrude oil.  Well it does not matter.  The Mercury/Quicksilver and Johnson Evinrude oils are pretty much exactly the same but sold by different companies (Mercury and Bombardier).

50 to 1 is the norm but with the age of the motor I would ply with it watch color of smoke coming out exhaust light blue med gray maybe 25--40 to 1 40 parts fuel 1 part 2 cycle oil like you weed eater but I would use a marine synthetic oil like slick 50 for 2 cycle motors they sell it at walmart. luck

Generally you use a 50 to 1 mix of gas to oil. Thats what I use for my jet ski

at least a 28/1 mix.of 2stroke outboard(not motorcycle or chainsaw)motor oil to gas.  Can be got at Walmart.  The ratio may vary.  I am going from my 50's Johnson 6hp
