What fun stuff can i do with my new russian dwarf hamster?

ive recently been given a hamster from my friend but he seems to be a bit bored. i also have a bit of a fear of handling him because i really dont want to be bitten...! any body got any ideas???

If you want to love you hamie and become great friends with it, you have got to handle it, from hand feeding it, to actually playing with your hamster in you hands, and petting it. Hamsters love to be brushed, and they need lots of TLC. So, get all your courage, and take the little cutie out. A few minutes would be great, or more! Maybe you can feed it some fruits and veggies first. Then you can hold it, and pet it. It'll soon love you lots! ( You really should handle it if you want it to trust you and love you. Syrian hamsters tend to be tame forever if you tame it. I don't know about dwarfs........) GOOD LUCK!

While the hamster is so new, you may want to give it a little time to settle in. Then, when you are ready to handle him, you can try all sorts of things like getting it to respond to his name, standing up for food, crawling up and down your arms, sitting on your shoulder, walking across a rope, going through obstacle courses, and much, much more! An exercise wheel is great for hamsters, and plastic tubes as a cage extension are neat as well. You could also try a plastic running ball. Remember, though, not to introduce too many toys at one time. I had a friend who bought about ten toys at once for her hamsters, and it turned out that one of the toys had mites living in it that got passed down to her hamsters. Because she bought all the toys at the same time, she didn't know which one had mites and ended up taking ALL of the toys back to the store. Take it slow and steady but have fun, and your little hammy will love you forever! I wish you all the luck with your new pet.

Put food in your hand to hold him.Put him on a bed and let him run around and pretend your fingers are people that are chasing him or maybe put him on top of you.Or pretend your pirates and put him on your should while sitting on a bed.
