  1. You can do anything you want really. You should definitely go to clubs at night, and you'll have no problem getting in or drinking. I know when I live in the south during the summer, me and my friend go to the supermarket there and buy alcohol. And during the day you know do things like the Colosseum, forum... eating. :D

(5 is an exaggeration, but they do let kids drink wine at family dinners starting at an early age.)

  2. If you are 17 you can drink what you want, Rome is amazing and the nighlife is great! Go to Campo de' Fiori

  3. There's so much to do in Rome!!! Esp., that it's the capital of Italy.  And as for drinking, legal age to drink is 16 is some places.  They are not anal about under age drinking as in the United States.  They are a lot laid back esp., due to the culture and their wines.  Kids start drinking at 5 at the dinner table with their parents.  So that way when they become of age, there isn't this curiosity on drinking like there is in the United States.  As for fun, clubs, pubs and museums.  The Colosseum, Vatican etc... Have fun and stay safe.  Don't overdue it with the liberty of drinking.

  4. Legal age in order to get served alcoholic drinks in public places in Italy is 16, not 18 like said above.

And, also, laws are the same in ALL ITALY, it doesn't depend on the city or region.

They TRIED to increase the limit to 18, between 2006 and 2007 (art. 90 finanziaria 2007).

Italy and France are the European nations with lower rates of alcohol abuse.

And only *officers* can ask for ID; this is quite a contradiction, since it's a crime selling or serving alcoholic drinks to people under 16 (and to people who are "clearly drunk") but the vendor can't "officially" verify...

The best place is Campo de' Fiori

  6. I went when I was 17 and I had no problem drinking anywhere in Europe. Its not like how it is here with checking id's and stuff. There are so many cool places to hang out over there. A couple bars I hung out at were Nags Head and ..shoot i cant remember the name of the other one but its only 1/2 a block down from the Nags Head. Both bars are in front of what they call the "wedding Cake" its a big white Vittorio Emanuele monument. Oh and you gotta go have pizza at Fior Fiore Its located in the maze of shops in front of the spanish steps ask around and they will point you in the right direction. It is the best pizza you will ever have in your life! Have fun!! Oooh and please fed -ex me a piece of pizza! lol

  7. You can drink at 16 in Europe! Are you taking an EF tour, I did one in Italy when I was 17 and loved it!  You can probably get into clubs(discos) if you dress right. They have every type of club you can think of if you do the research. Have fun and take lots of pictures.

  8. omg are you kidding! there is sooo much to do.. you will never have a dull moment! my friend was 17 & i was 18 when we went last summer so you can trust me! we nevverrr got carded for drinks or clubs or anything! i say go to campo di fiori for drinks, party in piazza navonna, testaccio, do the bar crawl at piazza di spagna, & if you go in the summer go to the beach parties!! omg have funnn!!

  9. You can do everything, just like any other european capital.

Pubs and local where to drink and enjoy concert are in Trastevere and Testaccio districts.

Rock clubs, hiphop clubs (the Roman scene is quite cool), goth ones, electro...you can find whatever you want.

There is a brilliant web where to find events and clubs day by day  but unfortunately it is only in Italian:

@drinking age issue: Americans are quite paranoid about drinking i see.

In Italy the drinking age is 18 everywhere and they may ask you for the ID in order to check your age.

No problem, if your friends are 18 they can bring for you a drink.

Someone has said we in Italy start drinking at the age of 5. TOTALLY FALSE!

Probably he/she has seen too "Sopranos" shows and has a misperception of Italy.

Hope you will enjoy my beloved country :)

  10. Just being there is fun-walk around and fun things will pop up all over the place-it's that kind of city. You will stumble upon people and life happening!
