What funding has the U.S. government provided for families with autistic children?

I am trying to write a speech. I am aving trouble finding what bills/laws/provisions etc. the government has passed in order to provide help for families with an autistic child. I know SC has Ryan's Law but I would like to know what is being done nation wide. If anyone has any info and esp any links to the information if will be greatly appreciated.

there is the Combatting Autism Act- which is supposed to fund programs for autism

and there are the Medicaid Autism Waivers..which helps provide services but for most states the waiting list is in excess of 10 years!!!!

Some severe children with Autism qualify for what some states call TEFRA-which is medicaid for kids when parents make too much money.

***You should really research the rider on the homeland security act that basically says "if it is ever found that vaccines are the cause of autism-parents can't sue the drug companies"  This would relate to your paper

It gives the history of IDEA 1975.  This legislation requires schools to provide a free and public education for autistic children and all children with special needs.

Funding? None under federal law outside of IDEA, which deals with academic issues, and no health or financial assistance.

Very few people can qualify for SSI based on income (less than poverty) and severity of autism (ie IQ less than 70)

Individually states provide some amount of assistance through waiver programs, but those are state-based and often have waiting lists, and limited assistance.
