What games can you play on an ice rink?

I run an ice rink and kids get really bored of just skating and I usually put together games, so far we play capture the flag, freeze tag, limbo, red light/green light, sharks and minos and simon says. is there any other games that you can think of that would work well with a group of kids on the ice?

The Corner Game: It's like musical chairs. Label the 4 corners of the rink with numbers. Play the music. When the music stops, everyone must stop in a corner of their choosing. Then you pick a number out of a hat and the people in that corner must leave the rink. The last people standing get a free pass or a free hot dog or nachos from the snack bar.

Shoot the Duck (or squat) race: Play the music. When the music goes off, everyone must crouch down in a shoot the duck position (or crouch on two feet if they can't shoot the duck). Do it a couple times for practice. Then prime everyone for the big race. The skaters work up speed and when the music goes off, they go down in a shoot the duck. The last person moving is the winner. This works on roller skates where friction stops you. It might not work so well on ice (or it might).

bull dog could work. i used to play that at figure skating (quads like) you get all of the children to stand at one end of the rink and pick two to stand in the middle. you say go and all of them try to skate across the rink without being caught. sounds risky but i cant rememeber many people getting hurt where i went. also stuck in the mud. like tag but then they stand at the side with their arm out and then one of their friends skate under their arms and they are free. aim of the game is for the team that is catching people to get everyone out. you will need 2 coloured bands for this or sashes so that it is possible to tel the teams apart. have fun :-)

The most ausome game ever. one person is "it" That person tries to tag someone, once they tag a person they link arms and try to tag another person, once there are four kids, they break of into pairs, and each pair tries to tag people. For an Advanced version skaters have to keep their feet on the ice (we do the advanced one for synchro practice) Hope this helps!!!!!!!!!!!!!! oh yeah and last person left is it..........

Some things we do at my rink are relay races, like set up cones and race through them.

Another thing is add on. One person starts it and does something, then the next does what the previous person did and another thing to add on. And so on and so forth.

Theres alot you can do with relay races:

Grab a partner and a balloon. Put it between you and your partners back and together try to get to one the end of the rink and back without dropping the balloon, and if you do you must start over.

Another is making a little snow ballsand putting it in a bucket. Then put another bucket at the other end of the rink. With as many teams as you wish (2 or so) the first person up grabs the snowball and races it to the end then skates back. The next person races to the end and brings the snowball back into the starting bucket. Then the next brings it from the starting one to the end and leaves it, and the next races to the end bucket and brings the ball back. Get it.

Another thing is to have people try and draw out a picture with their skates and the others guess what it is.
