  1. ring toss,

    finger painting,

    cartoon tag,

    leapfrog,

    rolling contest

  2. My students love to play duck duck goose, it is one of their favorite games. If you have a parachute, they enjoy activities using a ball and running under the parachute!

We also do alot of scarf dancing to both low and fast music to allow the children to move their bodies to the pace of the music. Limbo is also another fun idea for 4-5 year old children which we have done as my school.

We have also set up small relay races and the children love completing them as well.

One other hit for our school was face painting! Each child loved to become their favorite wild animal!

  3. face painting

    freeze tag/dance

    musical chairs

    Ring Toss

  4. Hang doughnuts by a string and challenge the kids to eat it with their hands behind their back, face painting, sack races, 3-legged races, bean bag toss, rent a jumper, water balloon toss, egg and spoon race, story time (give them a chance to rest), crafts (oriental trader has some good ones that aren't too expensive). Also, check http://familyfun.go.com/ for more ideas.

  5. If you can get large bulletin paper precut out in the shapes of boys & girls, each child can decorate themselves.  Gets lots of manipulatives and accessories like ribbons, buttons, glasses, hats, shoes, etc. to decorate their bodies.  Use large chunky crayons or washable markers to have the kids color in their features of eyes, ears, nose, mouth, hair, etc.  Have the kids decorate their clothing.

A Kindergarten class did this in one of the schools I teach at and they displayed their bodies inthe hallway.  It took an entire day for the class to complete their body images.  I do know that the teacher took pictures of each child in advance so the kids can look at pics of themselves while making their paper body.

    Have fun!

  6. Painting with hot wheels. Let them drive the cars through the paint onto paper. I did this a lot when I taught and it was always a hit. Then just rinse the hotwheels off and you're done.

  7. making ice cream sundaes...yum

  8. Ahaha, i do not think that paintballing would be appropriate for children at such a young age, however, as the previous suggestions mentioned, face painting, tag, musical chairs, spelling competitions, sponge the teacher, etc would be fun for children, as well as adding some education into the day.
